The images top are of the Glengoyne Whisky Distillery with the
hiking car parking by the roadside next to the
Distillery, as seen top. The large car park
across from the Distillery is for visitors to
the Distillery. If you are visiting the
Distillery for a Tour, or to buy Whisky, Gin or
a Souvenir, you can also use the Distillery car
park for the Hike as well.
The Trail to Dumgoyne Hill starts from next
to the Distillery, up through a Field to a
narrow Burn with Stepping Stones. There are
Sheep in this Field and on the Hill, so dogs
have to be kept on a lead.
Once across the Burn, you see two Trails,
one straight up, steep all the way.
The Main Trail goes up to the left, fairly
steep, then cuts across to the right, crossing
the Steep Trail at a steady angle. Large Image of
the Trails.
The Main Trail Cross Path is narrow, but
fairly safe, a nice steady incline.
Once across the Cross Path, the Main Trail
winds its way to the top.
The top gives great views, north to Loch Lomond,
east to the 1,896ft Earls Seat and
a number of other Hills that can be explored in
this area.
Going down the east side of Dumgoyne Hill
for the hike out to Earls Seat is real steep,
but fairly safe as long as you take your
time.
Up the east side is a good challenge,
