Glencoe Visitor Centre is 2 miles east of
Glencoe Village in the Highlands of Scotland,
91 miles northwest of Glasgow, 18 miles south
of Fort William.

The first small Glencoe Visitor Centre
opened in the 1970s. That Centre was replaced
by this larger Centre in 2002.
The Museum part of the Centre has a small
entry fee, giving information on the Area from
AD 300 to the present day. This covers Early
Religeon, Vikings, area Clans, Wildlife,
Plants, and Geology.
The Centre also gives information on Hiking
and Climbing in the Area with its 10 mountains
over 3,000ft.
Climbing as a sport began in Scotland in the
mid 1800s, ten became extremely popular at Glen
Coe in the 1940s and 50s.

Scotlands Mountains over 3,000ft, referred to
as Munros.
There are also a few well marked Walks down
Glens between the mountains.
The Glencoe Visitor Centre also has a large
Cafe with outdoor seating as well. The Cafe has
great views east along Glen Coe.
The Visitor Centre also has a large Shop,
with a range of Scottish clothes and gifts.
The Viewing Area at the Centre gives great
views east along Glen Coe. There is also a Walk
from the Centre into the Woodland and
Hills.
The Glen is 13 miles long with 3,000ft
Mountains either side. The Glencoe Mountain
Resort is at the east side of the Glen.
The Road through Glen Coe is one of the most
scenic drives in Scotland, with many car parks
to stop at for increadible views.
The Area top attractions are the Mountain
Resort, a walk to Signal Rock, Glencoe Folk
Museum, and the Glencoe Massacre Memorial. You
