The Building in the image top is the
Dryfesdale Lodge Visitors Centre. Since 2003,
this former Caretaker's Cottage has been used
to give informtion on the Garden of
Remembrance, and holds a Book of
Remembrance.
The Garden of Remembrance is at the far end
of the Cemetery, with the main Memorial holding
the names of the Passengers and Crew killed in
the disaster.
There are a number of Plaques in the Garden
placed by people that have visited in honour of
their relatives.
The scenic Gardens are an incredible place
to visit, sure to stir the emotions of all
visitors.
Within a short time of the crash,
invetigators found the Aircraft had been
brought down by a Bomb in the luggage
compartment.
Iran, Libya and Palestine were suspected as
could have been involved with the Bomb.
2001 Jan 31st - the Libyan Abdelbaset
al-Megrahi was found guilty of 270 counts of
murder in a Scottish Court. Megrahi was
sentenced to life imprisonment in Scotland.
