Royal Lochnagar Distillery is situated 50
miles west of Aberdeen, 10 miles east of Braemar, next to
Balmoral Castle.
This Single Malt Distillery can be visited
throughout the year free of charge for the shop
and small museum. There are also a number of
Tours that can be taken ranging in price.

The Distillery has a well stocked shop with
a vast range of Whisky from this Distillery and
its many Sister Distilleries.
Much of the Malt Whisky produced by Royal
Lochnagar is used in Johnnie Walker Blended -
Blue and Black Labels.
Royal Lochnagar Single Malt is matured
between 10 and 30 years, £45 to £950 per
bottle.

Royal Lochnagar History
1824 - the first Lochnagar Distillery
mysteriously burned down.
1841- the second Distillery burned down as
well.
1845 - John Begg built the Lochnagar
Distillery seen today.
1848 - Queen Victoria acquired Balmoral
Estate and the old Castle, previously owned by
the Gordon's.
1848 - the Distillery was awarded its Royal
Warrant after John Begg invited Queen Victoria,
Prince Albert, and their Children to visit.
1856 - the new Balmoral Castle was completed
for Queen Victoria. The Castle grounds, cafe,
and museum are open to the public for a few
months in early summer when the Royals are not
there.
Today, Royal Lochnagar Distillery is owned
by Diageo.
The Distillery has its own brand of Whisky,
but most of its produce is used in the Blending
of Johnnie Walker Black and Blue Label.
