1100s - the Island became part of the Barony
of Dirleton, granted to John de Vaux by King
David I.
1220 - the de Vaux family built Castle Tarbet
on the Island.
1220s - William de Vaux gifted Fidra to the
Monks of Dryburgh Abbey 42 miles south.
1200s - Dirleton Castle
was then built on the Mainland for the the de
Vaux family, about 1 mile south of Yellowcraig
Beach.
1600s? - Castle Tarbet and the Chapel were
in Ruin.
1600s - Dirleton Castle was abandoned.
