Golf Guide:
Top Touring Courses: host many of the top tournaments such as the Open or are courses rated as amongst the finest in Scotland/World. Price guide £80 - £300 per round depending on time of year and day of week. Many of these clubs have other less challenging courses that allow visitors with higher handicaps to experience the club history and facilities without having to endure the test of their tough championship courses.

Grade One Courses: are courses that many people regard to be almost the standard of the Top Touring Courses. Many of these courses are used for Open qualifying or hosting less prominent tournaments. Most of these courses require a handicap certificate and have strict dress codes. Price guide £50 - £80 per round depending on time of year and day of week.

Grade Two Courses: are normally shorter at about, or under 6000 yards. There are many excellent grade two courses with good facilities, set in extremely scenic locations with competitive prices. Normally more fun to play for the middle to high handicap as you get more shorter irons into the green and birdie chances than on the championship length courses. Dress codes are normally more relaxed. Price guide £20 - £50 per round.

9 Hole Courses: many now have 18 tees so you get the impression you are playing 18 different holes. Ideal courses for the beginner or golfers looking for a relaxing short game. There are many impressive 9 hole courses, especially the further north you go and on the islands. Price guide £10 - £30.
