Kirroughtree Visitor Centre is in Galloway
southwest Scotland, 27 miles east of Stranraer, 46
miles west of Dumfries, off the A75 road, by
Newton Stewart town. Locals pronounce
the name Koutrie. Postcode: DG8 7BE

This is a very popular Mountain Bike Park
with a number of Testing Routes, one of the
Seven Stanes Mountain Bike Centre's. The Park
also has a number of Walking and Hiking routes
with the 2,332 ft Cairnsmore of Fleet being the
highest of a few interesting Hills/Mountains in
the area.

front of the Visitor Centre.
The image of the entrance to the Visitor
Centre at Kirroughtree shows the notice boards
that give information on the areas attractions.
Also the Skies, as this area is so remote, it
is classed as a Dark Skies area, ideal for
viewing the Stars. Dark Sky Event
Nights.
This Park is so popular, a new larger
Visitor Centre was built around 2015 with a
Cafe that has great views towards the
Mountains.
The Visitor Centre also has a large Bike
Shop for sales, repairs and hire. This is the
largest Bike Shop and Hire Centre in Dumfries
& Galloway, supplying Bicycle equipment of
the best quality.

The main Cycle Route has a large Stone
carved like a Diamond, next to a loch, known as
the Gem Stone.
Kirroughtree Forest Park has a number of
Walks that start from the car park, each Trail
marked by a different Colour. The popular
Viewpoint Trail is way marked in red.
The image bottom is of the 2,332ft
Cairnsmore of Fleet. There is a road from the
Visitor Centre to the trail for Cairnsmore of
Fleet, but that is a fair hike through winding
roads, good if you have a Bike and an OS Map.
There is a car park about 1 mile south of the
visitor centre at Cairnsmore House, from where
the Main Trail starts.
The image bottom is of Cairnsmore of Fleet
summit in December. There is an Aviation
Monument here, cairn, shelter, and trig point.
Also, great views all around.

The Clatteringshaws and Glentrool
Visitor Centre's for Biking and Hiking are
connected by Biking Trails, although you may
need an OS Map to find your way between the

east, Mabie 7stanes 48 miles east,
and Drumlanrig Castle 43 miles
northeast.
