Benromach Distillery is situated on the
north side of the Town of Forres, 30 miles northeast of
Aviemore, 25 miles east of Inverness, 78
miles northwest of Aberdeen.
The Distillery is open for visits and tours
Monday to Saturday in Summer, Monday to Friday
in Winter, closed at Christmas and New Year.

chimney, claimed to be the smallest of the
Speyside Distilleries.

Benromach produces Single Malt Whisky
matured in ex Bourbon or Sherry Barrels for 10
to 40 years, about £42 to £2,000 per
bottle.

Benromach Distillery History
1898 - Duncan MacCallum and F.W. Brickmann
founded the Benromach Distillery Company.
Duncan MacCallum learned his trade by
working at the Glen Nevis Distillery in
Campbeltown, with FW Brickmann having been a
spirit broker in Leith at Edinburgh.
1900 - the Distillery began producing
Whisky, with the delay due to a depression in
the Scotch Whisky industry at that time.
1911 - Benromach was taken over by the
London based Harvey McNair & Co.
After the end of World War One, around 1918,
Benromach was taken over by Benromach
Distillery Ltd.
1938 - Benromach was taken over by
Associated Scottish Distilleries Ltd, that
later became part of Scottish Malt Distillers
Ltd.
1966 to 1974 - the Distillery was modernized
to increase production.
1983 - the Benromach Distillery was
closed.
1993 - Gordon and MacPhail acquired the
Distillery, beginning a few years of
restoration work.
1998 - the Benromach Distillery was
re-opened by Charles, Prince of Wales.
2004 - the first Bottles of the new
Benromach Single Malt were sold.
2014 - Benromach 10 Years Old won gold at
the World Whisky Awards. This was for the Best
Speyside Single Malt 12 Years and Under.
2018 - Benromach Distillery begins producing
Red Door Gin in their copper pot still named
Peggy.
