The Glen Moray Distillery is situated on the
west side of Elgin, 49 miles northeast of Aviemore, 76
miles northwest of Aberdeen, 38 miles east of
Inverness.
The Distillery is open for visits and tours
May to end of September, Monday to Saturday,
9am to 5pm. October to end of April, Monday to
Friday, 9am to 5pm. Postcode: IV30 1YE.

The Image top is of the entrance to the Glen
Moray Distillery, that produces Single Malt
Whisky, mainly matured in ex Bourbon
Barrels.
The Visitor Centre has a good selection of
Whisky, Cafe, and Souvenirs.
Glen Moray Whisky is normaly matured from 8
to 40 years, £25 to £4,000 per bottle. Whisky

Glen Moray Distillery History
1828 - the West Side Brewery was opened on
the west side of Elgin.
1897 - Robert Thorne & Sons converted their
West Side Brewery to a Distillery with 2
stills, named Glen Moray Distillery.
1910 - Glen Moray was closed as the company
focused more on their other Distillery at
Aberlour, 15 miles south.
1923 - the Glen Moray Distillery was taken
over by the Glenmorangie
Distillery, 71 miles northwest.
1958 - another 2 Stills were installed at
Glen Moray.
2004 - the French Company - La
Martiniquaise, opened a large Blending
Warehouse at Bathgate by Edinburgh.
2008 - La Martiniquaise took over Glen
Moray, with them using some of the Glen Moray
Single Malt in their Blended Whisky - Label 5, a Whisky mainly sold
in France.
2010 - La Martiniquaise opened a Grain
Distillery at Bathgate named the Starlaw
Distillery.
Glen Moray was then Blended with the less
expensive Grain Whisky from the Starlaw
Distillery to create Label 5.
2016 - Glen Moray was expanded to 6
Stills.
Today - Glen Moray produces a wide range of
Single Malt Whisky up to 28 years old, any
older will be rare and collectable.
